A Few Words About Us

On November 20,1955 a small group of Christians with a spiritual vision joined together to establish Calvary Baptist Church.  There existed at that time, as does today, a great need in rusk Texas For a smaller Baptist Church.  Not everyone is comfortable uniting with a larger congregation where close relationships with Christian, friend can sometimes be difficult to develop. The history of Calvary Baptist Church has been filled with spiritual mountains and valleys. In the brotherhood of sharing the love of Christ and how he leads us in our quest for being good Christians.

Brother Carl Goff and wife of 41 years, Cindy, was called to Calvary Baptist in May 2022. “Being called into service to proclaim God’s word is the highest honor and privilege I could receive”, said Brother Goff.
Brother Carl served as a deacon at Harmony Missionary Baptist church from 2009 until being called into the ministry in 2014. Preached at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church during extended absences of the preacher due to illness. Also preached as needed at multiple surrounding Baptist churches.
Brother Carl Goff is a lifelong resident of Rusk, Texas and after accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior, came forward and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in 1972 as a teenager. “Fifty years after salvation at Calvary, returning to serve as Pastor is a great honor”, said Brother Goff.
